‘Your’ Fabulous Rubbish Flatbreads!

This post has been inspired by the lovely Emily C who made flatbreads for the first time recently.

So many of you write and share your Great-Breaden experiences (sorry, that was truly awful) and I thought it would be fun to let you all loose in my virtual bakery!

Please post your recipe derivations for my Fabulous Rubbish Flatbreads on here!

Tell your fellow readers what ingredients you threw in and what you stuffed them with, or did you just eat them ‘naked’?

Send your mouthwatering pictures to me at RubbishAuthor AT gmail DOT com and I’ll put them in the thread.

Looking forward to finding out what inspired you today.

Rubbishly yours,

TS x

Light and Shade: Me On…

May your internet searches always take you to where you want to go.

You know, technology is a wonderful thing.

Well, it is if you understand it.

Meet me – probably the most techno-thick-chick this side of Norfolk.

I cannot toggle the telly between the DVD and the TV, let alone programme the flippin’ video to tape anything. I’m constantly confused by the double light switch at the bottom of the stairs and I’m eternally grateful that the kettle has just the one on/off switch. Continue reading “Light and Shade: Me On…”

Author Appearances update

Tracey Smith, the Rubbish Author
'Rubbish Author' - Tracey Smith

Hi folks

There won’t be a post from Tracey today as she’s all tied up getting ready for another week of interviews and public appearances. So instead I thought it would be a good idea to give you all an update of where and when you can catch a glimpse of our fabulous rubbish author.

Today
Tune into BBC Radio Somerset this morning between 9am and 10am as Tracey will be a guest on the Morning Jo show. If you go to the BBC Radio Somerset website you can listen in live or even listen later on in the day by clicking the ‘Listen Live’ and ‘Listen Again’ buttons in the right hand column.

Tracey will be then appearing on BBB Radio Solent at 10:20am for an interview and again, you can listen via you computer through the links provided by the BBB Radio Solent website. Continue reading “Author Appearances update”

Dust Off the Lunchbox – the Holiday is Over!

Be a legend in your own lunchbox
Be a legend in your own lunchbox

6 weeks of no school has finally come to an end and as much as I love the short-Smiths, there’s only so much juggling a girl can take.

As I write my rubbish post for Wednesday morning, there’s a blessed veil of peace enveloping the house. It’s so silent you can hear the wind rustling past the razor-sharp creases of their new school trousers.

In response to Katy Wolk-Stanley’s comment on ‘A Busy Mums Top Tips for a Slim Bin‘, I thought I’d post a bite-sized selection of my favourite lunchbox contenders to tempt ‘you’ into ditching the expensive pre-packed snacks, in favour of a bit of homemade nosh. Rubbish Videos – What’s Coming Soon?

What better way is there to get a message across, than to actually show it to you?

I love making films and have a little stack of them being edited as we speak (well, write, but you know what I mean)…

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be showing you: –

  • How to make flatbreads – quite the most delicious snack, easy to make and a perfect accompaniment to a dish of hummus…
  • How to get started with a compost bin and a wormery – this is going to be one short video though, you just lift the lid and sling it in!
